Joe Cajero completes Golden Eagle bronze in time for Market

Eagle Finished BronzeCajero’s Golden Eagle bronze titled “Communion of Spirits” is, like all his work, inspired by his Jemez heritage.

The Pueblos have shrines (or sacred areas) on top of certain mountain peaks. He imagined a moment of communion of spirits and prayer and believes this piece captures that moment.  This Eagle has landed on one of these shrines high on a summit peak; there is an exchange of energy that strengths and nourishes the Spirit of the Eagle and the Prayers of the Pueblo People. The shrine has petroglyph images of a rain cloud, lightning, rainbow, corn, the Sun, the Moon, a Star, a hunter, and the ying/yang energies. His goal was to bring a feeling of sacredness to this piece and convey the inner connectedness of the spirit of the Eagle, the human experience, and the ancient ones.

Legends Fine Art in Santa Fe is featuring Cajero’s work as well as his wife Althea’s beautiful jewelry. Communion of Spirits is limited to 30 editions.  There will also be an article coming out on Cajero in the Native Peoples magazine in the September/October issue that is scheduled to come out a week before Indian Market.
