Original monologues performed by:
Linda Durham, Margaret Edmundson, Ramona King, Michelle Vest, Paul Middleton, Maida Rogerson, Tanya Taylor Rubinstein with Tracey Erin Smith, special guest from Toronto as “The Burning Bush”.
UNSPEAKABLE is the kick off event to a Monthly Story Slam Series held in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
In the past few years, story slams groups have been a growing phenomenon in cities across the US. “The Moth” in NYC, “Porchlight Storytelling Series” in San Fransico, “First Person Arts” in Philedelphia, and “Back Fence PDX” in Portland, Oregon are a few examples. Similar to poetry slams, story slams are competive performace events that bring the art of storytelling to a contemporary audience.
UNSPEAKABLE is the first group to bring this new performance genre to New Mexico.
UNSPEAKABLE is presented by Tanya Taylor Rubinstein and Paul Middleton. Tanya is the founder of Project Life Stories, a theater company in Santa Fe that specializes in the creation of solo performances (one-person shows). Paul Middleton is the Vice President of Storytellers of New Mexico , an organization that has promoted storytelling in the state for over 10 years.
Paul facilitates the Open Mic Storytelling Night at Winning Coffee on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, and has co-produced the annual storytelling concert Tellebration!
